O'Neil She was in her high-school year during the auditions, tried out for the third season of Canadian Idol during the first months of 2005. Her vocal performance impressed the judges, and so she received a promotion to the final 100th stage. O'Neil received excellent praise from her judges. She suffered significant losses during the Top 10 and Top 9 weeks of the finals after she was placed into the bottom three and bottom two and bottom two, respectively. The judges were astonished by the outcome and urged the audience to support those with great singing talent, like Melissa. O'Neil has been consistently giving stellar performance since then, never fell below the top three. She was the judge. Werner said, following another two incredible performances, that O'Neil was going to be the winner from the Canadian Idol competition, as she would be the first woman and youngest in show history in the wake of the September 7 finals in 2005. O'Neil's Canadian Idol victory was officially announced by President Paul Martin immediately.
